Associate Attorney
Abigail Briggs is an Associate Attorney at Smith Butz, LLC. Abigail’s primary focus is on municipal law, oil and gas lease disputes, and construction litigation. Abigail was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2022. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. While in law school, Abigail was a Research Assistant for a Law Professor focusing on bystander liability. In addition to her research, Abigail worked as a Law Clerk for a Downtown Pittsburgh law firm.
As a Law Clerk, Abigail worked on various Civil Litigation matters including estate distribution disputes, breach of lease and breach of contract actions, and property disputes. In addition to litigation, Abigail gained experience in transactional law including real estate transactions and estate planning and administration.
Prior to attending law school, Abigail graduated in three years from the University of Pittsburgh summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Legal Studies. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Abigail worked as an Intern in both a small and large law firm setting where she was able to gain early exposure to the law on a regular basis. Abigail also held several Research Assistant positions in the Legal Psychology field with a University of Pittsburgh Professor. Through these positions, Abigail was named as a co-author in several publications.
